Search Engine Savvy PR + Branding

Founded by Lisa Buyer, The Buyer Group is search engine savvy by design and leverages
more than 15 years of award-winning talent and resources.

Oftentimes the motivation for a company to align themselves with a cause is intensely personal – this stands true for The Buyer Group. In 2005 at the age of 39, Jill Swartz, one of our very own, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She endured a radical bilateral mastectomy and nearly a year of reconstruction, allowing her to live strong and healthy today. Throughout her diagnosis and recovery, Jill and her husband, Carl continued raising their two children both that were under the age of five.

The Buyer Group rallied around Jill and her family taking it a step further by developing a cause related marketing campaign dedicated to the disease. One of our collective goals at The Buyer Group is to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. However, ultimately we strive to encourage young women to get screened early because this year alone, one out of every seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

Many of our clients partner with us in our efforts to raise money for breast cancer awareness and we encourage you to as well.

Race for The Cure

The Buyer Group participates in the Komen Race for the Cure, the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world, with well over 1 million participants since 2005. The Komen Race for the Cure series raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease. To learn more and register for a race near you, visit the Komen Race for the Cure.

Sign Mastectomy Bill in Congress

Currently in Congress a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act is in the works. If the bill passes, it will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. Today, if a woman must have a mastectomy she is admitted for the procedure and then is forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached. This bill will take part in eliminating this so-called 'drive-through mastectomy' and allow women to recover under hospitalized supervision.

Lifetime Television® offers a petition on their Web site where you can sign and show your support. Last year over half the House signed on. We encourage you to please sign the petition by clicking on this link; all you need is your name and zip code.

Clients and Causes

The Buyer Group organized Strike a Pose, an eight-week event sponsored by YellowGlen’s® PINK + YELLOW Sparkling Wine. The concept: a bowling league where the competitors were models from South Florida’s Top 10 modeling agencies. Every Tuesday night the agencies competed against each other while sipping Australia’s number-one-selling sparkling wine. During this eight-week event, a portion of the proceeds from PINK + YELLOW sold during the competition went to breast cancer awareness.
